This says season in review, but most of it is going to be me talking about the shows I thought were the greatest of the season. While there were a lot of good shows that I watched while waiting for the greats that is all they were was good. They managed to keep me entertained, but it was not of pressing import that I watch them. They also never managed to keep me enthralled like the shows I have picked to be the best of the season. The shows I have picked to be the best of the season are Aku no Hana and Shingeki no Kyojin.
Aku no Hana gave me the most trouble of t getting into at first. I just couldn’t stand the horrible animation. It was something that my 6 year old niece could have drawn and I would have prefered that the animators used the drawings from the manga for the characters. They looked a lot better in my opinion. The only thing the characters had going for them was I thought they looked more Asian in my opinion. But once I forced myself through the first two episodes I realized that it was going to be great.
Of course it was Nakamura and her twisting of Kasuga that made the show what it was. She drove Kasuga into corner that he probably would have rather not been in. She then proceeded to make him feel like deviant and he started to believe that he was. If he wouldn’t have done what he did involving Saeki’s clothes he would have been every bit as normal as his friends. He would have also probably been fine if afterwards he told Saeki.
The show very much highlighted the pressures that put on upon people to conform to society and what may happen to them when they don’t. Kasuga didn’t really any terribly devious crime, but he felt like he had. Add in Nakamura and things went from bad to worse for poor Kasuga.
My next great is Shingeki no Kyojin(Attack on Titan). From the very beginning it had me both entraced and enthralled. I waited impate=iently for each episode and it was of utmost importance that I watch each episode as soon as possible and without interruption.
This show had all the elements from the very beginning to be a great in my opinion. But that could be that I very much sympathized with Erin in feeling that he did not want to live his life as a caged animal. He kind of already had it figured out that it was only matter of time before the Titans got through the wall. Add in dashes of what seemed like religious repression and Authoritarianism by the central government and the show becomes a great.
The whole time Erin is showing that he is a true free thinker and leader. He drags people a long with him when he joins the Survey corps. He convienced them that it would be better to die fighting instead of sitting around awaiting what is definitely going to be a slow and certain death. There were also bits of him wanting to get revenge for the death of his mother.
I am not going to detail all the good shows because I have niether the energy nor the motivation to do so. The goods include:
- Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru
- Date a Live
- Ore no Imouto ga Konnai Kawaii Wake ga nai 2
- Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko
- Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Bride
- To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S
There were some good moments in these like in Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko with Tsutsukakushi’s older sister believing that the MC actually had a twin brother that was the Hentai. I will let watch the other stuff to figure it out for yourself.
